Elected Democrats in rural Kentucky are becoming a rarity. And their numbers just decreased by one in the state Senate after state Senator Robin Webb switched to become a Republican. She was a long time Democrat who served in state government for over 25 years. Webb says that the Democratic Party has become too radical and alienated Kentucky and on the issues that matter most and said that the Democratic Party no longer represents her values or those of her rural constituencies. As it is, there are only six Democrats out of a total of 38 in the Kentucky state Senate. There are only 20 Democrats out of 100 in the state House. It’s time for some soul searching in the party that once embraced rural America and family values.
