A recent report has ranked Kentucky 35th in the nation for hospital safety. The ranking is based on the hospitals’ ability to protect against errors, accidents, injuries and infections. 11 of our states’ hospitals received an A, while the rest received Bs, Cs, and Ds. All four of Norton Healthcare hospitals in Louisville were highly rated, and their CEO said he was proud of his team, who “keeps the safety of our patients — and each other — at the center of all they do.” We should applaud the work of these hospitals and encourage others who are lagging behind in their hospital safety. For when it comes to healthcare, anything less than excellence, jeopardizes the the lives of Kentuckians who need urgent healthcare.
