The Kentucky State Legislature is expected to consider the SAFE Act, which stands for Save Adolescents from Experimentation. Specifically, it addresses dangerous transgender ideology and would save Kentucky teenagers from untested hormone therapy on their developing bodies. It would also outlaw gender transition surgeries on otherwise healthy anatomy. Advocates of the bill say it’s needed because minor children cannot fully understand the serious nature of their decision which in many cases will lead to a lifetime of sterility and regret. Minors have nightly curfews, cannot drive until age 16, and in many states, cannot get a tattoo or piercing without parental consent if under age 18. So why should a minor be expected to make a rational decision that alters their gender? The Kentucky legislature will likely answer that question soon.
