Kentucky has some of the strongest pro-life policies in the nation. State senator Max Wise wants to protect the unborn even more. He proposes Senate bill 321, which is similar to the Mississippi law that is being heard by the US Supreme Court. That law bans all abortions after 15 weeks in utero. Wise says that his intention is that “in the event the Supreme Court upholds the Mississippi legislation as constitutional, [Kentucky] will have a pro-life law in place that would not be subject to a good faith legal challenge.” So many of Kentucky’s pro-life laws have been blocked by federal courts. If Sen. Wise’s bill passes and the Supreme Court upholds Mississippi’s law, the unborn will find greater protections in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
