As of July 1, Kentucky businesses can apply for a license to sell medical cannabis. There will be a lottery system which will choose 48 businesses from different parts of the state. Supporters claim that medical cannabis will provide needed relief to sick Kentuckians. But marijuana has yet to be put through appropriate medical protocols to determine dosages and populations vulnerable to side effects (including children, the elderly, and nursing mothers). The personal cost of marijuana is well documented: brain damage, addiction, and mental illness. This experiment with so-called medical marijuana, is just that, an experiment. No testing, no dosage recommendations, no real doctors monitoring the effects. And real people in this case will be the Guinea pigs.
