The Kentucky State House will consider a few bills addressing the issue of transgenderism. House Bill 30 would require public school students to use the bathroom and locker rooms that correspond with their biological sex. House Bill 58 would protect the consciences of medical professionals by allowing them to refuse to perform or support hormone therapy or gender transition surgeries. House Bill 120 would prevent healthcare providers from providing transition surgeries for minors. While critics claim these bills are an attack on transgender children, these bills actually protect them. Children aren’t capable of making such life-changing decisions as taking cross-sex hormones or undergoing gender reassignment surgery. Now it’s up to state lawmakers to protect children’s best interests.
