A federal judge in Maryland ruled that Catholic hospitals must perform gender transition surgeries on perfectly healthy people. Judge Deborah Chasanow ruled in favor of a woman suing the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center for refusing to remove her perfectly healthy uterus. As a result of the ruling, the woman can now seek damages against the Catholic hospital. This is a step back for religious liberty. One of the founding principles of our country is freedom of religion as protected by the First Amendment. Protection of Gender identity, on the other hand, is found nowhere in the Constitution. When judges rule in favor of radical transgender practices that result in the physical harm of people instead of religious liberty, they undermine the Constitution that they have sworn to protect.
