London Mayor Randall Weddle joined Gov. Beshear at the State Capitol who announced a $1.4 million grant for the City of London. This grant will go towards new sidewalks for London’s downtown area. But critics question the grant in light of Mayor Weddle’s huge campaign contributions to Beshear’s re-election efforts. Altogether, Weddle’s family and friends have donated over $300,000 to the Democratic Party and Beshear’s re-election campaign. Beshear also spoke at the opening of one of Weddle’s businesses and appointed the Mayor to the Transportation Center Advisory Board. Gov. Beshear denies any wrongdoing and said that “nothing has or ever will be promised for any type of donation.” But the facts behind the grant tell a different story.
