According a recent conference on human trafficking, sex trafficking of children is an issue in the Commonwealth. One of the participants shared that there are over 1000 children caught in the sex trafficking trade in Kentucky. Some are kids caught in the foster care system. Others have unscrupulous parents who are hooked on drugs and sell their kids to support their addiction. In either case, it’s tragic. Gov. Bevin’s One Mind: Uniting the States for Our Children was not a conference that received widespread media coverage, but it may have been one of the most important conferences of the year. There were presenters from 10 different states and included law enforcement, survivors of human trafficking and government officials. The conference was a worthy effort by Gov. Bevin to put an end to this scourge of child trafficking.
