Former President Trump and country music star Lee Greenwood have released the “God Bless the USA Bible.” The $60 King James Bible includes our nation’s founding documents and Greenwood’s handwritten lyrics to his classic song. It is touted as the only Bible endorsed by President Trump. Regardless of who promotes such a thing, adding political material to the Bible is controversial and offensive to many Christians. The Bible stands alone as God’s revealed Word. The Declaration and Constitution are amazing political documents, but they are not on par with God’s Word. Further, it’s unclear if Trump is personally benefiting from the proceeds. The danger is that the Bible becomes a fundraising prop and a tool for a political party agenda. And this is something that Christians should guard against.
