Parents in a Connecticut school district recently learned that their children, as young as five and six years old, are being indoctrinated in gender ideology. This is the idea that gender is fluid and can change. One book in the kindergarten curriculum is called “Introducing Teddy.” This book says it intends to “introduce the youngest readers to understanding gender identity and transition in an accessible and heart-warming story about being true to yourself.” What makes this even more troubling is that parents have been told they cannot opt their children out of this curriculum. Not only is this a clear violation of parental rights. But the very thought of indoctrinating children with a confusing and immoral ideology is contrary to the mission of education: forming the next generation of students into intelligent and virtuous citizens.
