If there's one issue that's in the news nearly every day, it has to be illicit drugs. Drug overdoses, drug related crimes, and drug busts fill the pages of our newspapers nearly every day. Why is this? It reveals a crisis of emptiness and brokenness. Empty in that people fill themselves with something they believe will help them. Broken in that drugs numb the pain where there is hurt. America's drug crisis masks something deeper—and that's our need for God. Each of us have a deep need to have a relationship with him. Augustine said. “Thou hast made us for Thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in Thee.” Indeed, we're made for God. Christianity teaches that wholeness is possible and it begins with the healing gospel of Jesus Christ.
