Ever here of the term “debanking”? It refers to an attempt by major financial institutions to deny, restrict, or terminate banking services based on a customer’s ideological, political, religious, and social views. And it’s been a practice used in recent years to target conservatives and their organizations. Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase have been caught closing the accounts of their conservative customers with no explanation and little notice. Most will agree that people shouldn’t be targeted simply for holding conservative beliefs. Banks provide a pubic service and the insurance program to keep them from failing are supported by tax dollars. There’s talk in the Kentucky state legislature to keep this from happening here. Which would push against cancel culture in the Commonwealth.
