Football fans were horrified after Buffalo Bills cornerback Damar Hamlin suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest after tackling a Cincinnati Bengals receiver in last Monday night’s game. Paramedics rushed to the field and immediately began CPR to get his heart beating again. Hamlin was rushed to a Cincinnati hospital, where he’s still receiving treatment. While many were searching for answers, ESPN commentator Dan Orlovsky decided to point people to God. He led viewers in prayer during a live ESPN broadcast. Some may have wondered if prayer is appropriate on primetime TV. But in a time of sudden tragedy, where we watch an athlete nearly die before our eyes leaving us to wonder what’s going on, what else can we do but pray to the God who heals, comforts, and holds all lives in His hands.
