Last week we celebrated Thanksgiving. Then shoppers flocked to stores for Black Friday. Now, today is Cyber Monday–the largest online shopping day of the year. We’re clearly blessed with an abundance in this country, but too often we try to satisfy ourselves with the wrong things. While food and clothes and consumer goods are necessary for life, our oversized appetites are often a cover for a deep longing we have for a relationship with our Creator. We’re made to walk with God. And in order to restore the relationship, he gave us Jesus to forgive us, heal us, and provide the deepest longings of the human soul. So in this season of frenetic consumerism ask yourself what is it that you long for and whether that next thing will truly fulfill.
