Election season is in full-swing. Early in-person voting began October 29th and election day is November 3rd. While this time is marked by energy on both sides of the political aisle, some are still cynical about this midterm cycle—even raising concerns about the validity of whatever results November 3rd will yield.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s new book Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country centers on the story of the Good Samaritan and Jesus’ admonition to “go and do likewise.” It’s a call to kindness and respect for others — something many say is long overdue. However, his broad application of the parable is a stretch in places, especially when taken to support public policies contrary to biblical ethics.
California just passed a law that requires all employers to institute anti-hate speech training. And what’s particularly controversial is that it doesn’t make exceptions for churches. Assembly Bill 1803 (AB-1803) was passed earlier this year by the California General Assembly and signed into law late last month by Governor Gavin Newsom.
