The Chicago Teachers Union recently tweeted, “The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism, and misogyny.” Now is that true? The CDC recommended that schools remain open for the well-being of students. And unfortunately, black students have been most affected by the closing of schools. The CTU is not the only teachers union promoting radical ideas. The Kentucky Education Association’s national affiliate has released their Policy Playbook for the Biden Administration. In it, they oppose school choice and want to make it harder for parents to save money for private schools. We all want a good education for our children but keeping our schools closed and blocking parents from choosing the best school for their children isn’t what teachers should be known for.
