A bill considered in the Kentucky legislature makes clear that abortion is not a protected right. But if you’d read Kentucky’s biggest newspaper you get a different story. The Louisville Courier-Journal headline said: Kentucky Constitution would include no right to abortion under bill approved Thursday.  The problem is that the headline is inaccurate. HB 67 simply says: “Are you in favor of amending the Constitution of Kentucky To protect human life. Nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to secure or protect a right to abortion or require the funding of abortion.” The bill sponsor said the reason he’s proposing the bill is to make sure Kentucky has no Roe v Wade. In other words, he doesn’t want judges to read into the Constitution something that’s not there and make up laws out of thin air.
