After Roe v Wade was overturned, federal Democrats are trying to prevent the court from overturning other controversial laws imposed by a handful of judges. Congress took the first step to make same-sex marriage a national law (by a vote of 267 to 157. Every Democrat and 47 Republicans in the House voted for the “Respect for Marriage Act.” But the bill does not respect the institution of marriage. Rather, it redefines and destroys what marriage is. Marriage is a conjugal and covenantal union between one man and one woman where the biological differences bring the possibility of new life into the world. Congress and their Orwellian spin on terms may pretend to preserve something. But whatever they call it, it’s not marriage.
