Have you made a New Year's resolution yet? If not, let me suggest a good one. How about contributing to civility? One way to do that is by engaging in more conversations—civil conversations with those you disagree with. Not arguments. Not rants. But conversations. This is where mature individuals dialogue and discuss ideas with people that they don't see eye to eye with. This involves careful listening and seeking to understand the other person. True conversation promotes civility and fosters better understanding between people who have different ideas. When done well, respectful conversations contribute to goodwill. And when this happens we as Kentuckians might live up to our motto "United we Stand, Divided we Fall."
