37 Kentuckians have died, and hundreds remain unaccounted for in the mountainous communities of Eastern Kentucky after severe floods ravaged the region. Among the many groups assisting with recovery is the local church, including Fitzpatrick Baptist Church in Prestonsburg. They have provided 750 free meals to the Wayland community. Pastor Tommy Reed said, “People are so traumatized, and the pain is so great.” The church, he said, is to show compassion and love in times such as this. The Great Command of the Bible is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. In this case, Fitzpatrick Baptist and many others are showing their love for God by taking care of their devastated neighbors who are in great need.
