Approximately $2.4 billion is set to come to Kentucky through the Biden Administration’s American Rescue Plan Act—but as a condition for accepting the funds, the President’s administration is attempting to prohibit states from lowering taxes for its citizens for the next four years. This week, Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron joined Tennessee in filing a lawsuit against this unconstitutional mandate, arguing that vital funding should not be used to dictate whether States can lower taxes for citizens. Cameron said: “Kentuckians expect state tax policies to be set by the men and women they elect to represent them in the General Assembly, and not as a result of an edict from the Federal Government.”
