If you’re looking to order a conservative book from Amazon, you may be out of luck. Amazon recently delisted Dr. Ryan T. Anderson’s bestseller When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment. This move comes on the week of a congressional vote that would make sexual orientation and gender identity a civil right. Coincidence? Critics of the ban have been told to look at Amazon’s “hate speech” policy for answers. But as Amazon continues to carry Adolph Hitler’s Mein Kampf and books justifying pedophilia or promoting witchcraft, it appears their vision for society has no room for moral boundaries or the free exchange of ideas. Amazon’s blocking of conservative perspectives isn’t a violation of First Amendment freedoms but it threatens the free exchange of ideas and makes us worse off for it.
