President Biden gave a commencement speech at Howard University calling American’s “to stand up to the poison of white supremacy and single it out as the most dangerous terrorist threat to our homeland.” Now white supremacy should be condemned, but is it really the great problem our president says it is? 21 people were killed by white supremacist groups last year. This is more than other domestic terrorist groups, but it only accounts for less than 1% of all homicides committed in 2022. Which begs the question: Is this the greatest threat to peace and safety that Americans face? While white supremacy is evil, it’s a picture of the depravity of the human heart. And it’s a reminder of just how much we need God’s healing and grace, which only comes by embracing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
