Governor Andy Beshear vetoed Senate Bill 83, the Save Women’s Sports Act. This bill would keep biological boys on boys’ sports teams and preserve women’s sports. You could say that Gov. Beshear simply vetoed women’s sports. This is because it took so long, and women fought so hard to have their own sports teams to ensure fair competition. Critics say that this bill bullies transgender kids from being “who they are” and prevents them from participating in whatever sports team they want to play on. However, good sense tells us that self-defined gender identity has its limits. Approving transgender identity defies science. It denies biological differences between males and females. Ultimately Gov. Beshear’s veto does nothing to help gender-confused individuals and hurts the future of women’s sports.
