The Executive Branch Ethics Commission told Attorney General Andy Beshear that if he plans to run for governor in 2019, he should stop directly investigating Governor Matt Bevin.  The Commission said that if any investigations are needed, an outside investigator should handle it. The Democratic Attorney General seems to enjoy investigating this Republican governor. And many believe his continued investigations are a platform to further his personal ambitions to unseat Bevin in 2019.  While the governor isn’t above making mistakes, the constant lawsuits and speculation from the Attorney General appear intended to derail Bevin's leadership. While at the same time positioning Beshear to knock off Bevin in the next election.  The Attorney General’s office isn’t a stepping stone. And the Commission made clear it’s time for Beshear to stop treating it as such.
