Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order banning so-called conversion therapy. This is a type of therapy many question whether is happening in Kentucky. The governor said that kids should be safe and be protected. We can all agree on that, but the premise of the move to ban conversion therapy is that children should determine their own sexuality and anyone who counsels or tries to speak into that, will be restricted by law. The order violates parental rights, the ones responsible for guiding their children on sexual ethics according to their faith tradition. It also chills free speech and guidance by biblical counselors who are dedicated to supporting parents and the biblical sexual ethic. The order is getting strong pushback from conservatives in the legislature.
