A gunman opened fire in the food court of Greenwood Park Mall in Indianapolis, Indiana, killing 3 people and injuring 2. The death toll would have been much higher if a citizen legally carrying a firearm didn’t intervene and shoot the gunman. This situation sheds some light on the gun debate in our country. Both men had guns on them, yet one decided to harm innocents, and the other decided to protect them. Whether one decides to kill or protect has little to do with the gun being carried. But instead, it has everything to do with the heart of the one who wields it. As there’s a shrill call for more gun laws, there’s an equal call for something only Jesus can do: change the heart of sinful individuals bent on evil.
