Of all the issues in the governor’s race, whether it be the economy, education, or managing state resources, abortion policy is taking center stage. Interestingly pro-abortion Governor Andy Beshear is making it an issue. In the past, Democrats have lost on the issue of abortion. But Beshear is focusing on tough cases, and he’s arguing that exceptions, like how a baby is conceived, should change the debate. Even though there are heart-rending circumstances of conception, compassion should be afforded to the mother who has been violated. But should circumstances of conception nullify a child’s right to live? Some argue that Beshear is deflecting because he’s vetoed a number of common sense pro-life laws, including the 15 week abortion ban. He also vetoed the Born Alive Act, which protected the lives of babies who survive an abortion.
