This month, I’ve been traveling the state and speaking at churches about a Christian approach to politics. I’m sharing lessons from my new book, Christianity and Politics: A Memoir of Spiritual Formation and Field Guide for Christians in the Public Arena. How we approach the public arena is an important topic for all of us, especially the closer we get to a heated presidential election. Presidential politics seems to make some people lose their minds. Of course, this isn’t helpful to anyone. We must recapture the ideals of civility and goodwill and put them into practice. We also need to remember that in our republic, with differing priorities and values, we must make spirited yet careful defense of principles, yet give space and grace to others who disagree.
