Last week in Washington D.C., the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Manhattan Declaration co-hosted an event on the topic of religious liberty. Panelists included Russell Moore, president of the ERLC, Kirsten Powers, a FOX News political analyst and columnist for the Daily Beast, Jennifer Marshall, Director of Domestic Policy at The Heritage Foundation, Timothy Shah, a professor of political science at Georgetown University, and Ross Douthat of the New York Times.
The event focused on both the philosophical grounding for religious liberty, but also the practical application of religious liberty in the context of recent events. The event is notable in that it brings together noted experts from different disciplines to focus on one of America's most important, though most misunderstood doctrines—religious liberty.
