Three men pled guilty for their role in creating group We Build The Wall. The nonprofit raised money to build a wall to keep illegal aliens from crossing the southern border. But instead of using the $25 million they raised to build a wall, the group pocketed the money for personal use. Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato, Tim Shea, and President Trump’s former political advisor Steve Bannon were involved with the scheme. Bannon was pardoned by Trump before leaving office. And Kolfage and Badolato received prison sentences and must pay back $25 million to donors. Shea awaits his sentence in June. The lesson here is that Americans are both a passionate and a generous people who will give to a good cause. But when their passion is exploited for someone’s personal gain, there’s a high price to be paid.
