Today is the 49th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision. In 1973, the court legalized abortion on demand for any reason all the way through the 9th month of pregnancy. The ruling has sharply divided us, and it’s left an estimated 60 million babies without a chance at life and many expecting mothers scarred from the trauma of abortion. Even though today is a dark day in our nation’s history, there are glimmers of hope. For example, state legislatures have passed hundreds of laws restricting abortion in the past decade. There are over 2300 pregnancy care centers located across the country to help women in crisis pregnancies, while there are only around 800 abortion centers. So the trend toward protecting innocent life continues as more Americans today are working to uphold human dignity and restore the sanctity of life.
