The world’s youngest premature baby to survive just turned a year old. Richard Scott William Hutchinson was just 21 weeks old, could fit in the palm of your hand, and was given a 0 percent chance to live but defied the odds. He is now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most premature baby to survive to date. Baby Richard was just 11.9-ounce child when he was born and spent the first 6 months of life in the hospital. By God’s grace and with the assistance of medicine and technology, Baby Richard is now doing very well. His story is a reminder that human life at its earliest stages is a life worthy to be valued. May God give us eyes to see and the courage to protect and value the most vulnerable among us.
