Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency last week. The reason? Second Amendment advocates from across the country planned a rally at the state Capitol in Richmond. Gun-rights advocates from surrounding states came to protest gun-control legislation proposed by Democrats in the state legislature. Kem Regik, a 20-year-old private security officer attended the rally and said “The government doesn’t run us, we run the government.” Regik hoisted a white flag with a picture of a rifle captioned, “Come and take it.” P.J. Hudson, a truck driver from Richmond carried an AR-15 and told a journalist “I love this. This is like the Super Bowl for the Second Amendment right here.” The demonstration ended peacefully and without incident.
