Pres. Joe Biden did not waste any time in keeping his promise of undoing Trump’s policies through executive order. So far he’s issued 30 executive orders, including the cancellation of the 1776 Commission. The purpose of this Commission was to promote American history in the classroom. It was a response to the New York Times’ revisionist and anti-American 1619 Project. As Americans, we should be thankful for our history, learn from our triumphs and our mistakes, so that we may “strive to form a more perfect Union.” The lives of Washington, Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. have shaped our country and have made it what it is today. The 1776 Commission intended to teach the true history of what our country is about. Biden’s order hides the meaning of America and results in another generation ignorant of our history.
