Western Kentucky University announced that its no longer supporting the Pride Center as a “university-related initiative.” Which begs the question: how does such a center contribute to the flourishing and well-being of students? And why were tax dollars used in the first place for to promote it? In either case, university officials say the group that supports homosexual and transgender identity must leave the Downing Student Union and find a place of its own. Public trust in higher education is diminishing, partly because of coercive leftism baked into the coursework and controversial initiatives like this. The university pointed to the enactment of House Bill 4, which prohibits state universities from providing funds, staff, or promotional resources for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
