The 2019 legislative session is just weeks away and a couple of bills proposed to solve Kentucky's financial problems. State Rep. Dennis Keene has introduced a bill to legalize wagering on professional and college sports. State Senator Julian Carroll introduced a similar bill in the Senate. But consider that compared to other states Kentucky doesn't rank as well as other states. According to U.S. News, Ky is ranked 46th in fiscal stability and 45th in our overall economy. We are unhealthy and rank 7th in diabetes, 8th in obesity, number 1 in smoking, and 42nd in nation in overall health. The question is: which one of these rankings will more gambling help? Truth is, gambling has always been considered a vice and legalization will only make our existing problems worse.
