If you noticed all the American flags flying over the weekend that’s because Saturday was Flag Day. It’s a day to celebrate the American flag and what it stands for. This day of remembrance juxtaposed with violent protests in the streets of Los Angeles with many protesters waving Mexican flags. One masked protester stood on top of a vandalized vehicle. They were protesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions to arrest people who are here illegally. Of course, peaceful protest is protected by the Constitution. In fact, waving flags from another country is a right. But there is no right to being in this country illegally. Nor does it help the cause of legal immigration to wave a flag from another nation and violently protest.
