Last semester, Coach David Bloch was fired from the snowboarding team at Woodstock Union High School in Vermont. His crime? Believing that men and women are different. When his team faced a transgender athlete, Bloch joined a student conversation and shared that in his decade of coaching, he has observed that biological males have genetic advantages over biological females in athletic events. The school superintendent fired him the next day for violating the district’s harassment, hazing, and bullying policy. Equating Bloch’s perspective with bullying is a stretch, if not an insult. Now he’s going to court to defend his First Amendment rights. Telling kids about biological and physiological truth about male and female isn’t bullying, it’s a duty these days. Hopefully the court agrees.
