Congressman Thomas Massie is on the outs with President Trump after he said that the bombing of Iran needed a declaration from Congress. And Massie has been outspoken about this. He posted on X last week that “[Trump) declared so much War on me today it should require an Act of Congress.” Trump has vowed to defeat Massey in a primary election and a Republican super PAC is raising money to accomplish that goal. Even though several Republicans are unhappy with some of Thomas Massie’s votes, he can defend them from principle. And his positions reflect his Northern Kentucky district which wants smaller government, less debt, and no new wars. Regardless, of where one stands, Massie’s pushback is in accord with principles of reasonable dissent and fidelity to the Constitution.
