A group called Protect Our Schools Kentucky is spreading misinformation about Amendment 2. They claim that it will write a blank check to private schools. Truth is, the amendment simply allows our state legislature to enact school choice options. Without amending our constitution, Kentucky will remain only one of two states without school choice. There’s an irony here with the teacher’s union backed group, which is spending millions to defeat the measure. It’s that teachers should tell the truth. While the group doesn’t represent all teachers, it gives the majority of teachers a black eye and is leading to more mistrust amongst many Kentucky voters. Advocates of Amendment 2 maintain that it empowers parents to make educational choices that are the best fit for their families. The voters will decide its fate on November 5.
