Socialism is on the rise in Democratic party. According to a poll done by Data for Progress, Democratic voters view plain old Democrats as favorably as elected officials who describe themselves as democratic socialists. So what is socialism? It’s the idea that the government should control the means of production in the economy. Socialism also redistributes wealth in private hands. It’s easy for political leaders to make wild promises of prosperity to the voters. But in reality, socialism is an incredibly destructive economic and political idea that undermines human flourishing and economic productivity. Why do you think people are fleeing from Venezuela and other central American countries where socialism has been instituted? It’s because it’s because the promises never ever materialize and leave the people in destitution.
