There has been a public outcry in Arizona over a nine year old girl getting a tattoo of an American flag. Even other tattoo artists are critical, saying that it’s not ethical to allow a child to make this big decision. The state of Arizona allows kids to get tattoos so long as parents consent. But we all know that children cannot comprehend the depth of such a decision. The case is a reminder as to the vulnerability of children and the responsibility of adults to protect them. The same logic applies to children who believe they’re a cat, or dog, or born in the wrong body. We have a responsibility to tell them the truth, help them, and in the end protect them.
