Scholastic Books is the world’s largest publisher of children’s books. Now they’re distributing numerous resources promoting homosexuality and transgenderism to children. One of their offerings includes a teacher’s resource guide for Pride Month, which kicked off last week. Keep in mind that Scholastic’s audience is grade school children. Now they’re openly involved with LGBT activism. In one Massachusetts town, Clifford the Big Red Dog—Scholastic’s mascot—is marching in the Pride parade. Many schools across the country have relied on Scholastic to provide resources to their students. But their recent actions signal a clear violation of trust. This promotion of immorality to children has consequences. As a result, you can expect that many teachers and high school principals will be looking for better resources that promote wholesome and age-appropriate books to young students.
Thank you for posting this warning about Scholastic and creating awareness of this issue.
Many parents and educators are often shocked when they find out what’s on sale at their school’s annual book fair! The status quo book fair companies are just no longer a safe option. Scholastic and other children’s book publishers are pushing more titles with graphic violence, sexual confusion, the occult, normalizing dysfunctionality, and many, otherwise fun books, are sprinkled with characters and references that also inject agenda-driven content. School libraries also have these books on their shelves, as they are provided for “free” to schools as a reward for hosting a book fair. These trends in reading options should not surprise. If we look to prime-time TV, Hollywood, and current pop culture, we can see where the children’s publishing industry is getting its inspiration. Also, it is important to note that most of Scholastic’s revenue comes from working with public schools. So, they have little, if any, incentive to make changes to its corporate policies or content strategy to align with a common sense, virtue focused world view.
In a market historically controlled by a single player, Good News! Book Fair’s unique curation approach is resonating with America’s schools. Now, in its 10th year, they are tapping into a segment with which Scholastic and the dominant book fair players have lost touch and, as a result, Good News! Book Fair has seen demand for their services continue to increase. Good News! Book Fair delivers hundreds of titles and, products catering to students in Pre-K to 8th grade levels. Good News! Book Fair acquires books from the top secular and Christian publishers and offers a balanced approach of wholesome, fun, clean reads, classics, best sellers, and new releases, along with faith filled titles. All books are vetted by a national curation team made up of selected authors, librarians, and parents. We believe that this program aligns best with the mission of faith based schools.
