We may be in the midst of LGBT Pride month, but now, there’s an alternative. Princeton Professor Robert P. George has proposed a new commemoration for the month of June—Fidelity Month. George describes it as “a month dedicated to the importance of fidelity to God, spouses, and families, our country and communities.” George attributes Americans’ declining confidence in faith, family, and patriotism to growing crime, drug use, family brokenness, and alienation. Too many corporations and political leaders are rejecting traditional and American morals. George suggests that instead of celebrating “pride” in sexual identity, Americans recommit themselves to a faith in God which cultivates flourishing families, churches, and local communities.
