This year and next, the Vatican will host representatives from around the world to discuss how to increase collaboration and gospel mission within the Roman Catholic Church. Participants were selected by Pope Francis. But one is raising eyebrows. Father James Martin is a Jesuit priest and founder of “Outreach: An LGBTQ Catholic Resource.” Catholic teaching affirms traditional Christian morality. While not explicitly condemning the Church, Martin practically defies it by promoting LGBTQ-identities. The Pope’s role is to safeguard Church teaching, not change it. But Francis is regularly undermines Christian sexual morality. This is an important lesson to all Christians because the preservation of Christian doctrine is foundational to a Christianity that changes lives and promotes true human flourishing.
