The meaning of one simple conjunction is causing quite a stir in Kentucky: the word “or.” The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) updated its legislative guidance for schools regarding SB 150, which puts a stop to LGBT political activism in public schools. KDE guidance emphasized the word “or,” and they suggest that the schools have an option as to the clear language which says there will be no sex-ed in K-5th grades. And there will be no introduction of LGBT Ideology in any K-12 public school. State Sen. Max Wise criticized the KDE for “making a feeble attempt to undermine the law and shamelessly inject politics into Kentucky classrooms. KDE demonstrates its clear political lean when it gives SB 150 such a contorted interpretation.”
