According to a recent Pew survey, only 25 percent of Americans believe that a college education is extremely or very important to secure a successful job. Attitudes towards a traditional college degree have changed in the last decade. But should we be surprised? In many universities, DEI policies shut out students and staff based on ethnicity or political beliefs. Many students leave with massive debt burdens and questionable degrees which neither form their hearts and minds nor prepare them for a career. So many have decided that four years of college isn’t worth it. Recent antisemitic bigotry and intolerant ideology is further damaging the college brand. And if higher ed is going to make the case that a college degree is worth it, this needs to change.
