The Sutter Family Residency Medical Program in California has made assisted suicide training part of its curriculum. The residents “evaluate patients for Medical Assistance in Dying, write prescriptions for aid-in-dying medications, and attend the planned deaths of their patients if desired.” In other words, future doctors are being trained how to kill their patients. Many Western nations are embracing assisted suicide, and it’s coming to America. We are told that it’s compassionate for medical professionals to help patients end their lives. But it’s contrary to the Hippocratic Oath, which first says, “Do no harm.” Killing shouldn’t be disguised in medical language, and normalizing assisted suicide through medical residency isn’t progress but a threat to medical integrity and the true well-being of patients.
